Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

Reelguru ("we", "us", or "our") operates the Reelguru AI platform available at reelguru.app (the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our Service.

2. Information We Collect

  • Account information: Email address when you sign up or log in via one-time passcode (OTP).
  • Content you create: Reel scripts, slide text, captions, hashtags, and voiceover recordings you generate or upload.
  • Media assets: Images and videos you upload to your business profile gallery.
  • Business profile data: Business name, type, links, and custom AI prompts you configure.
  • Social platform tokens: OAuth access tokens and refresh tokens for connected platforms (YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, LinkedIn). These are stored encrypted in our database and used solely to publish content on your behalf.
  • Usage data: Pages visited, features used, and timestamps — collected to improve the Service.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • Provide, operate, and maintain the Service.
  • Generate AI-powered reel scripts, voiceovers, and video content based on your inputs.
  • Match your uploaded gallery assets to generated video slides using AI image descriptions.
  • Publish content to connected social media platforms at your explicit direction.
  • Send transactional emails (e.g., OTP login codes) via Resend.
  • Improve our AI models and platform features.

4. Google API Services & YouTube Data

Reelguru uses the YouTube Data API v3 to allow you to publish videos to YouTube directly from our platform. Our use of information received from Google APIs complies with the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

What we access:

  • https://www.googleapis.com/auth/youtube.upload — to upload videos to your YouTube channel.
  • https://www.googleapis.com/auth/youtube.readonly — to read your channel name for display in the app.

How we use this data:

  • We use your YouTube OAuth tokens only to upload videos you explicitly choose to publish via Reelguru.
  • We read your channel name solely to display it in the connected accounts UI.
  • We do not use Google user data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose unrelated to the publishing feature you requested.
  • We do not sell, transfer, or share your Google user data with any third parties.
  • We do not allow humans to read your Google user data unless required by law or you have given explicit permission for support purposes.

How we store this data:

  • OAuth access tokens and refresh tokens are stored encrypted in our PostgreSQL database (hosted on Vercel/Neon).
  • Tokens are only retrieved when you actively publish a video.
  • Tokens are deleted immediately when you disconnect your YouTube account from Reelguru.

How to revoke access:

You can revoke Reelguru's access to your YouTube account at any time by:

Reelguru's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

5. Meta (Facebook & Instagram) API Data

Reelguru uses the Meta Graph API v19.0 to allow you to publish videos to your Facebook Pages and Instagram business accounts.

Permissions we request:

  • pages_manage_posts — to publish video posts to your Facebook Pages.
  • pages_read_engagement — to read page names for display in the app.
  • instagram_basic — to read your Instagram business account name.
  • instagram_content_publish — to publish Reels, Feed posts, and Stories to your Instagram business account.
  • pages_show_list — to list your Facebook Pages so you can choose which to publish to.

How we use this data:

  • Page access tokens are used only to publish the specific video you choose to a Page or Instagram account you select.
  • We store the list of your Pages and Instagram accounts (name, ID, page access token) in our database to show you the selector UI without requiring re-authentication on each publish.
  • We do not read, analyse, or store your audience data, post insights, messages, or followers.
  • We do not sell or share your Meta user data with third parties.

6. Third-Party Services

We use the following additional third-party services to operate the platform:

  • OpenAI – AI script generation, YouTube SEO metadata, and image description. Input content (topics, captions, image URLs) is sent to OpenAI for processing.
  • ElevenLabs / Google Cloud TTS – Voiceover synthesis from your script text.
  • Shotstack – Video rendering. Script data and media URLs are sent to Shotstack to produce MP4 files.
  • Pexels – Stock video and photo search based on slide topic keywords.
  • Vercel Blob – Cloud storage for media files you upload and rendered videos.
  • Resend – Transactional email delivery for login OTP codes.

Each service has its own privacy policy. We share only the minimum data required for each service to function on your behalf.

7. Data Retention

We retain your account and content data for as long as your account is active. You may delete your account or specific content at any time. Social platform OAuth tokens are stored only while your connection is active and are removed when you disconnect a platform.

8. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures including HTTPS encryption in transit, encrypted database storage on Vercel Postgres (Neon), and HTTP-only cookies for session tokens. OAuth tokens are stored in a restricted-access database table. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure; we strive to protect your data but cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Request correction or deletion of your data.
  • Withdraw consent or disconnect social platform integrations at any time.
  • Data portability — export your content and account data.

10. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to individuals under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you become aware that a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us immediately.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify registered users of material changes via email. Continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
